Tax & Accounting Manager
Location: Encino or Beverly Hills, California
Reports To: Controller / Director of Finance
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Tax & Accounting Manager to lead our Tax & Accounting team and deliver exceptional results to our clients. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in preparing, reviewing, and filing tax returns, particularly for real estate and service-based businesses and high net worth individuals. The candidate must also have experience in tax resolution with the IRS and other regulatory bodies, be QuickBooks certified, proficient in ProConnect or similar tax software, and hold a CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification along with a valid PTIN. This role requires a deep understanding of tax laws, excellent client management skills, and a commitment to ensuring compliance and accuracy. You will provide strategic tax advice, foster strong client relationships, and help clients navigate complex tax issues, including tax disputes and resolutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Return Preparation and Review: Oversee the preparation, filing, and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for real estate and service-based clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax regulations.
- Tax Resolution: Manage and resolve tax issues with the IRS and other regulatory bodies, including negotiating payment plans, resolving tax disputes, and addressing audits on behalf of clients.
- Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing ongoing tax advice and ensuring a high level of client satisfaction. Act as a trusted advisor to address client inquiries and concerns promptly.
- Tax Planning & Strategy: Provide proactive tax planning strategies for clients to minimize tax liabilities while staying compliant with applicable laws.
- Tax Law Compliance: Stay up-to-date with changes in tax regulations, ensuring clients remain compliant with all relevant tax laws and filing requirements.
- Real Estate and Service-Based Industry Expertise: Leverage industry-specific knowledge, particularly in real estate and service-oriented businesses, to provide tailored tax advice and solutions.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the tax and accounting team, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to best practices in tax filing, client service, and tax resolution.
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency in the tax preparation, resolution, and filing processes, ensuring high standards of accuracy and timeliness.
- Compliance Reporting: Ensure all tax-related documentation is maintained and filed correctly to meet deadlines and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification is required.
- Valid PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number).
- QuickBooks Certified with proficiency in managing accounting functions for small to medium-sized businesses.
- 3 years of tax preparation experience, with significant exposure to real estate and service-based businesses.
- Strong experience in tax resolution, including handling disputes with the IRS and other regulatory bodies.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, particularly those applicable to real estate and service-oriented industries.
- Experience with ProConnect or similar tax software (e.g., Lacerte, ProSeries, UltraTax) and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and provide exceptional client service.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising and developing staff.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
