Job Overview
Full Charge Bookkeeper needed for a loving faith community is West Linn, Oregon. Person will provide services for disbursing of church funds and accounting activities.
Accountability: The Church Bookkeeper is accountable to and supervised by the Pastor, and the Session (i.e., the governing body for the local congregation) of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. Responsibilities:
1. Oversees checking deposits and withdrawals.
2. Reviews bank statements and makes journal entries into Church Windows software.
3. Creates prints and distributed reports to the Session.
4. Prepares annual budget under the direction of the Session.
5. Prepares monthly financial statements and annual financial documents for the Annual Report.
6. Enters payroll taxes and signs quarterly annual payroll tax returns.
7. Opens, reviews, renews investment accounts.
8. SAIF- workers compensation annual payroll report.
9. Review accounts payable and process checks including securing required signatures for payment of financial obligations of the church including insurance, vendors, and requests for disbursement. [may include payroll but not currently done by the bookkeeper]
10. Accurately maintain files for all disbursements, church assets, and bank statements
11. Maintain accounting software for accurate recording of disbursements, deposits and fund balances
12. Works with the Financial Review Committee (Audit Team)
13. Oversee the annual reimbursement of property taxes by Crown Castle for the cell tower site
14. Oversee the annual (or extended period) property tax exemption notices for the any tenants and Trimet lessees
15. Work with Support Commission on annual building insurance renewal assessment
16. Work with Board of Pensions to manage the pastor’s pension and medical benefits a. Submit an annual Employer Agreement document to the BOP in the fall b. Notify the BOP of Pastor Terms of Call changes in January each year c. Pay BOP employer participation invoices each month using ACH
17. Manage check signing volunteers
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
