Seasonal Retail Team Member (2025 Season)

Job Summary:
Emmi and Sons Inc. is a retail and wholesale fruit and vegetable family farm in Central New York. Emmi and Sons Inc. is looking for 4 Farm Stand Workers to work the Summer 2025 season. These employees will perform various duties related to a retail farm stand operation, including, but not limited to, receiving produce and other merchandise deliveries; stocking produce and merchandise; providing customer service, including use of a cash register to make sales and managing cash; and any other tasks as assigned by the Farm Stand Manager or Assistant Manager. These employees must be able to work until the end of the season, with open availability and without interruptions.

Requirements:

• Excellent customer service ability
• Have a working knowledge of produce, including handling and storage
• Accurate and responsible management of cash register, including counting back change
• Enjoy working with a team in a fast-paced environment
• Motivated, energetic and flexible
• Available to work weekdays and weekends
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must have reliable transportation
• Experience with retail and/or food and agriculture is a plus

Job Duties:

• Welcome and engage with customers as they enter the Farm Stand
• Assessing customers’ needs and making sure they find what they are looking for
• Give customers advice and recommendations
• Respond to customers’ questions
• Assist with inventory, including receiving and stocking produce and merchandise
• Set up and break down the Farm Stand before open and after close
• Maintain produce quality throughout the day
• Operate cash register and digital scales
• Bagging purchases made at checkout
• Stocking produce and rotating fresh fruits and vegetables
• Setting up, maintaining and deconstructing product displays
• Follow health regulations and safety standards
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all tables and displays
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the entire Farm Stand
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Farm Stand Manager

Start Date: Approximately May 10th, 2025

End Date: Approximately October 15th, 2025

Supervisor: This position will answer directly to the Retail and/or Wholesale Manager(s) and Assistant Manager(s).

Hours: This is a seasonal position until October 15th. Vacation is highly discouraged during peak season.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
