Description

The Director of Professional Coding at Emory Healthcare is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the coding operations across the physician Division.

This role entails ensuring compliance with coding standards and regulations while maximizing revenue through accurate and efficient coding practices.

The Director will lead a team of coding professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure adherence to coding guidelines, accuracy in documentation, and timely submission of claims.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Developing and implementing coding policies and procedures, conducting regular audits to assess coding accuracy, and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Collaborating closely with clinical departments, revenue cycle teams, and compliance officers to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Training and mentoring coding staff to enhance their skills and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Analyzing coding data to identify trends, address discrepancies, and implement strategies that optimize coding performance and revenue capture.
  • Engaging in ongoing communication with physician leaders to provide updates on coding initiatives, address challenges, and ensure that clinical documentation supports appropriate coding practices.
  • By fostering a collaborative environment, the Director of Coding will play a pivotal role in driving coding excellence and supporting the overall financial health of Emory Healthcare.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, health administration, or related field.
  • Master's degree or equivalent graduate work preferred.
  • Four (6) years management experience in physician group practice including multi-site group management preferably in both the shared service and clinical department environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding in how to manage resources across an organization to make an enterprise-wide impact.
