Shift: 6am - 2:30pm, Monday - Friday

Emory Medical Laboratory's mission is to transform health and healing by providing high quality, cost-effective, innovative laboratory services which enhance patient health. We're seeking a Histotechnologist III who will support Emory Healthcare’s mission of clinical care, education, and research by demonstrating the core values of excellence, caring, and integrity. This individual:

• Performs routine or complex histologic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment while upholding the values of the organization.
• Dedicated to sectioning recuts and pulling unstained slides specific to Immunohistochemistry (IHC) stain requests, maintaining control blocks/slide inventory for IHC stains, and running IHC stains via automated instrumentation.
• May accession tissue specimens; prepares routine specimens for fixation in automatic processors.
• Embeds and sections specimens using a microtome.
• Affixes tissue to slides, stains, cover slips, and labels slides.
• Maintains a reference system of control blocks and slides for use in special studies.
• Prepares fixative and staining solutions according to established laboratory procedures.
• May perform frozen section microtomy.
• Assists in the formulation and revision of departmental policies and procedures.
• Leads staff and provides input to employee performance; communicates goals and standards.
• Assists in developing, implementing and revising histologic policies and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma, Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
• Five years of relevant experience with supervisor/lead experience preferred.
• Certification as HTL (ASCP) or certification as HT(ASCP).
