Description
- Provides quality care to patients receiving diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures.
- Operates interventional radiologic and specialty equipment including ultrasound units and endoscopy units to produce high quality radiographs (x-rays) for diagnostic and invasive procedures in the interventional suite and operating room.
- Communicates patient's needs and response through appropriate verbal and written communications.
- Negotiates win-win solutions to situations as appropriate.
- Ensures documentation is complete and accurate regarding all aspects of patient care.
- Responsible for proper operation of imaging and specialty equipment as well as keeps abreast of uses of medical devices.
- Regularly assumes responsibility and provides direct care for the more complex patients.
- Provides assistance to colleagues in recognizing, interpreting, and managing unstable patient care situations.
- Provides quality care to patient during procedures; prepares patients for procedure with proper sterile technique.
- Takes precautions to minimize patient and staff exposure to radiation.
- Assists with patient and family education. Functions independently, can coordinates in Clinical Specialist's absence.
- Precepts one health care provider/year when applicable for new staff and students.
- May support or assist in research and related activities.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
- Current ARRT licensure. also must have a minimum of three (3) years experience with two (2) years in IR.
- Advanced certification in VI is required.
- BLS certification required.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks
