Emory Oak Partners – Payroll Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and talented Payroll Specialist to join our team and manage our payroll and team member benefits.  The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, organized, and level-headed business partner. 

This individual will report directly to the Chief Development Officer and will be responsible for payroll and benefits across multiple legal entities. 

The role is in-office, which is located in Rollingwood (Austin, TX).


What You’ll Do

  • Process bi-weekly payroll and monthly supplemental commission payroll for employees with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Calculate and administer employee benefits, deductions, and taxes.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits issues.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate employee data.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations.
  • Manage timekeeping records and ensure compliance with US overtime laws.
  • Process and monitor garnishment orders.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll records for accuracy.
  • Prepare paychecks and ensure timely delivery.
  • Responsible for processing and coding checks daily for each operational business unit, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial transactions.
  • Responsible for employee orientation and off-boarding, compliance trainings, and learning and development
  • Drive continuous improvement and lead change. 
  • Work with leadership to develop and cultivate a culture of excellence, accountability, and trust.
  • Support an environment that values diversity, inclusion, equality, and acceptance.
  • May perform other duties as required.


Who You Are 

  • Bachelor's degree - prefer in an appropriate field such as human resources, organizational behavior, or business administration.
  • 5 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws.
  • Strong analytical, math, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll best practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of payroll and HR software (e.g., Inova, Paychex, ADP).
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate and confidential employee data.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
