The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. We are currently seeking a Director of Gift Planning Marketing and Stewardship.

The Gift Planning team supports the development officers and the donor’s efforts to create new planned gifts. This position will report to the Assistant Vice President of Gift Planning.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages marketing, stewardship, and event planning activities for the Office of Gift Planning.
  • Drives awareness, engagement and pipeline to generate leads, sets strategic vision and activates multichannel campaigns/programs.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates comprehensive year-round integrated marketing & communication plans and strategies across multiple audiences to educate, inform and engage donors using data analytics, key messaging, storytelling and brand experience to convey visibility, meaning and importance of planned gifts.
  • Help set the strategic framework for positioning, platform and voice for gift planning marketing campaigns which may include direct mail, print and digital advertisements and email.
  • Oversees all gift planning communication platforms including website content and social media pages.
  • Collaborate across the enterprise with healthcare, school/unit and central advancement and alumni engagement offices to create, implement, and integrate planned giving into marketing, activities, and events.
  • Leads cross functional teams with Emory Communication & Marketing, external vendors, etc. to manage project ideation, direction and execution to ensure a consistent visual image, writing style and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • May perform various design updates of current materials, as well as copy edits.
  • Plans and hosts planned giving education/cultivation events together with university, healthcare and alumni engagement partners.
  • Promotes and enhances stewardship of all Emory gift planning donors.
  • Uses software systems to manage projects, report findings, analyze data and implement recommendations.
  • May cultivate, solicit, and steward planned giving donors via marketing strategies.
  • May manage relationships and service agreements with outside vendors and internal customers.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Director may be required to:

  • Meet and track department metrics for referrals, response rate, click-through rate (CTR), gift intention notifications and conversion rates to reach new audiences, create meaningful connections and optimize gift planning efforts and ROI.
  • Apply accurate coding using the current CRM system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and five years of experience in communications, marketing, gift planning, or related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful candidate will be a creative strategic thinker and data-driven problem solver who leverages research and metrics to create innovative marketing solutions.
  • Possess experience working with or marketing bequests, trusts, taxes, and planned giving with a strong working knowledge of pros and cons of various tools and techniques, as well as laws affecting charitable planning.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, navigate a complex work environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, self-motivate and work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team to achieve goals with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as effective presentation skills.
  • Prior experience in marketing & communication advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, healthcare or a university setting.
  • General knowledge of current trends in direct marketing.
  • Experience managing projects, budgets, and financial reports, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Able to shift gears and comfortably handle risk, recover from setbacks and overcome obstacles.
  • Self-directed, proactive and holds one-self accountable.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to meet tight timelines and work with complex, often confidential, assets and information.
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
