The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. We are currently seeking a Director of Integration & Reconciliation.

 

The Gift Accounting team is responsible for receiving and processing gifts for Emory University and Emory Healthcare. They generate monthly pledge reminders, maintain biographical records and provide operational and statistical reports to the Division and Controller’s Office. This position will report to the Executive Director of Gift Operations.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluates, implements, and directs integration of gift data and reconciliation processes.
  • Reviews/analyzes gifts, pledges, and grants from individuals and organizations to ensure correct designation, processing, and acknowledgement in accordance with Emory, IRS, CASE, and NACUBO standards.
  • Provides strategic leadership, long-range, and short-term planning for the Office of Integration and Reconciliation, including proactive process improvements within VERAS (and related integrations), staffing, and technology utilization.
  • Oversees relationships with Emory financial partners to include the Controller's Office, University's banking institution, school and unit business and advancement offices, and vendors to ensure the integrity of the data and financial information and customer expectations are met.
  • Serves as key liaison with all advancement offices, Emory accounting offices, and other constituents relative to gift integrations and gift data related loads and feeds.
  • Responsible for safeguarding significant amounts of confidential financial and personal data.
  • Collaborates with various teams to develop and enhance technology plans and strategies for continuous improvement in workflow, process efficiencies, and best practices.
  • Develops and executes strategies for continuous quality control and improvement in services to and communications within the division and other Emory constituencies.
  • Provides technical support, guidance and direction for the development, implementation, and maintenance of complex operational projects.
  • Manages office budget and maximizes utility of resources.
  • Establishes and implements performance metrics and quality control processes.
  • Reviews/Analyzes monthly financial and reconciliation reports created by team related.
  • Hires, manages, develops, and motivates a team of professional staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Director may be required to:

  • Stay abreast of university-wide reporting systems, databases, and policies.
  • Work additional hours and some holidays during peak times including but not limited to fiscal year end and calendar year end activity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business management or a related field, and five years of professional experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a university or non-profit environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful candidates will possess experience managing budgets and financial reports, working with various technologies including digital imaging, advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, fundraising and donor relations software, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
  • High proficiency in ten-key data entry (number pad).
  • Familiarity with University, IRS, and CASE standards regarding charitable giving and reporting.
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and explaining fundraising reporting and a familiarity with guidelines for fundraising revenue counting.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to navigate a complex work environment.
  • Experience leading teams, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting. 
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
