Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s) in partnership with Emory University Departments of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics are seeking a visionary and collaborative physician with a strong clinical and academic foundation and academic experience to serve as a Pediatric Anesthesiologist.

 

The Pediatric Anesthesiologist will plan, implement and evaluate the provision of high-quality medical care, with appropriate resource management, to children and adolescents in the respective clinical area.

 

The Division includes 65 physicians, more than 90 anesthetists and over 25 Nurse Practitioners who serve patients at the Egleston and Scottish Rite Hospital locations as well as 2 ambulatory surgery centers (Meridian Mark, Satellite Boulevard) and Center for Advanced Pediatrics (CAP). As the leader of the Division, he/she will be responsible for clinical program development, faculty recruitment, workforce development, the growth and advancement of research, scholarly activity, and educational excellence of the trainees within the Division.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • No minimum Experience Required.
  • Experience in respective clinical area.
  • Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school.
  • Graduate of an accredited, post-graduate residency program in Anesthesiology.
  •  Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
  •  Board Certified/ Board Eligible in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
  • BLS or PALS certification required.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member.
  •  Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.
  • Demonstrates the following skills in accomplishing job duties and responsibilities: personal organization and time management, human relations and teamwork, personal adaptability, personal motivation, and listening.
  • Provides patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children’s policies and procedures.
  • Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
  • Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
  • Educate and assist trainees with medical decision making.
  • Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
  • Completes necessary documentation and ensures timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
  • Actively responds to patient and clinical staff questions and requests.
  • Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
  • Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete, and maintain certification in BLS, PALS, or NALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
  •  Performs other responsibilities as required.

About Emory Department of AnesthesiologyThe Emory University School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology is one of the nation’s largest academic anesthesiology departments. About Department of PediatricsThe Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics (DOP) and the Children’s Physician Group (CPG), the largest pediatric multispecialty group practice in Georgia, are staffed by School of Medicine faculty involved in pediatric clinical care, teaching, research, and child advocacy. The Department of Pediatrics at Emory is comprised of 16 divisions and has over 580 clinical and research-intensive faculty making it one of the largest pediatric departments in the southeastern United States. The faculty provides primary and specialty pediatric care at Children's Specialty Services, Children’s Center for Advanced Pediatrics, Children’s at Egleston, Scottish Rite, and Hughes Spalding, Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory Midtown Hospital, Lindbergh Women and Children's Health Clinic and the Whitefoord Community Program's school-based clinics. The DOP has played an integral part in providing quality health care to the indigent and medically underserved of the state of Georgia for the past 75 years. Through their affiliation with the Grady Health System, Children’s at Hughes Spalding currently provides in-patient and out-patient medical services to the neediest children and adolescents in the Atlanta metropolitan area. In addition, the department has been affiliated with other child support projects which include Whitefoord Elementary, Sammye E. Coan School-Based Health Centers, KIPP Vision School, and several locations in the DeKalb County School District.
