Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Under the direct supervision of a registered radiopharmacist, assists in the production of radiopharmaceuticals for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Human Research.
  • Prepares human research radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with current Good Pharmacy Practice and USP<823> and USP<825> guidelines.
  • Maintains proper operation of radiochemistry synthesis units to include post-production cleaning, preventative maintenance and repair.
  • Develops radiopharmaceutical synthesis software programs as required to bring new radiotracers online.
  • Coordinates vendor preventative maintenance service and repair visits and maintains consumable and spare parts inventories.
  • Operates a cyclotron for production of PET radionuclides for approved human research.
  • Maintains proficiency in operating various analytical and lab support equipment (GC, HPLC and TLC systems, MilliQ) to perform required quality control testing of human research PET radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Maintains records of equipment repair, service and operation.
  • Performs, schedules and/or coordinates calibration, preventative maintenance and repair of key analytical and production equipment.
  • Follows established Materials Acceptance and Inventory Tracking Programs and logs, reviews, tests and accepts production and quality control materials per established Material Specification documents.
  • Assists in completing and maintaining physical and electronic records of radiopharmaceutical production, quality assurance testing, materials acceptance results, and monitoring general lab and area requirement functions.
  • Performs routine, manufacturer approved preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of various safety and quality control equipment.
  • Maintains adequate levels of ancillary production and quality assurance materials and supplies for uninterrupted production and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals and stores materials appropriately.
  • Performs daily survey and wipe testing for contamination per EHSO requirements.
  • Prepares radiopharmaceuticals for delivery per EHSO requirements and DOT regulations.
  • Assists with operational support functions, which include minor general equipment maintenance and housekeeping activities to maintain an efficient work area.
  • Assigns work to other support staff and acts as a resource for questions and issues.
  • Maintains registration and good standing as a Georgia State Board of Pharmacy registered Pharmacy Technician.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in Chemistry or related Science required.
  • Positions within this classification may require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to bend, stoop and twist.
