Welcome to the Residential Services Department of Emory Valley Center. We are currenting opening up shifts for our PRN Direct Support Professional (DSP) role. As a PRN DSP you will provide essential support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to ensure their well-being, independence, and quality of life. This is a flexible, on-call position that requires the ability to work on short notice, often filling in for scheduled staff or covering shifts as needed. The DSP is responsible for assisting individuals in daily living activities, promoting independence, and encouraging social integration and participation in community activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care Assistance: Provide support with personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, dressing, and other personal care tasks as needed.
- Daily Living Support: Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) including eating, mobility, meal preparation, housekeeping, and laundry.
- Behavioral Support: Assist with behavior management techniques to support individuals in maintaining emotional well-being and developing social skills. Encourage positive behaviors and intervene when necessary.
- Health and Safety: Monitor individuals for health and safety concerns. Administer medication as prescribed, following all protocols and ensuring proper documentation.
- Community Engagement: Support individuals in accessing community resources and participating in recreational, educational, and social activities.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client activities, behavior reports, incidents, and any other required documentation. Ensure all data complies with regulations and company policies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including case managers, families, and healthcare professionals, to ensure that each individual’s needs are met.
- Flexibility: Be available to fill in on short notice for shifts as needed to provide consistent support for individuals.
- Promote Independence: Encourage individuals to achieve and maintain as much independence as possible in all areas of their lives.
Additional Information:
- This is a PRN position, requiring flexibility to work various shifts on short notice.
- Must work one PRN shift during each pay period.
- Must pass background checks, including criminal history and abuse registry checks.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift and assist individuals with mobility needs as required.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing needs and schedules.
- Tennessee Drivers License Valid
