Job Summary
The Clinical Sleep Director will oversee the clinical aspects of sleep health services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to patients. This role involves managing sleep diagnostic and therapeutic programs, developing clinical protocols, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. The Clinical Sleep Director will serve as the clinical leader for sleep medicine, driving innovation, compliance, and excellence in care delivery.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership
- Lead the clinical development and implementation of sleep health services, including sleep studies, diagnostics, and therapeutic interventions.
- Develop and maintain clinical protocols, policies, and procedures in alignment with evidence-based practices and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., AASM) and other regulatory requirements.
Patient Care Oversight
Provide clinical guidance for sleep study interpretation, treatment planning, and ongoing patient management.Oversee the integration of sleep diagnostic tools, such as polysomnography, actigraphy, and remote monitoring devices.Promote patient education on sleep disorders and therapies, including CPAP / BiPAP, oral appliances, and behavioral therapies.Program Development
Collaborate with leadership to expand and optimize sleep programs, including telehealth, mobile diagnostics, and partnerships with providers.Identify opportunities for innovation in sleep services, leveraging technology and data analytics.Implement and evaluate quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.Team Management
Recruit, train, and mentor clinical staff, including sleep technologists, therapists, and administrative support teams.Provide ongoing education and professional development opportunities for the sleep team.Foster a collaborative and patient-focused culture within the department.Collaboration and Advocacy
Partner with referring providers, payors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless care coordination and access to services.Act as a clinical resource and advocate for sleep health, representing the organization at conferences, industry events, and community engagements.Support research and education initiatives related to sleep disorders and treatments.Qualifications Education
Master’s or Doctoral degree in a healthcare-related field (e.g., Medicine, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, or Psychology).Certification or advanced training in sleep medicine (e.g., MD, DO, RPSGT, CCSH, or equivalent) is required.Experience
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in sleep medicine, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.Demonstrated expertise in sleep diagnostics, therapeutic interventions, and patient management.Experience with telehealth and remote monitoring technologies is preferred.Skills
Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a patient-centered approach.Leadership and team management skills with a focus on collaboration and accountability.Proficiency with sleep software and electronic health record systems.Certifications
Board Certification in Sleep Medicine or credentialing in sleep-related disciplines (e.g., RPSGT, CCSH) is highly desirable.Additional Details :
Clinical Sleep Director shall have the following duties and responsibilities, all of which are material to this Agreement :
Clinical Sleep Director shall render the Services in a positive, cooperative, pleasant manner at all times and in conjunction with the policies and procedures of Group or its designee management and billing companies. Clinical Sleep Director is experienced, competent, and physically and mentally able at all times to provide the Services required under this Agreement and to use the technologies required under this Agreement. Clinical Sleep Director shall comply with all of Group’s policies that are applicable to Clinical Sleep Director employees, incorporated herein, which include, but are not limited to, the Group’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for the website, or applicable app or digital health platform (if developed), as they may be updated from time to time, a copy of which is available to Clinical Sleep Director at www.empass.com.Other than unscheduled leave for illness, Clinical Sleep Director shall provide Group with sixty (60) days’ advance notice of any request for leave, paid or unpaid. All disability and family leave shall be in accordance with applicable law.Clinical Sleep Director shall timely and accurately complete and / or return : (i) client records, including handwritten or electronic notes from client sessions; and (ii) any other documentation or forms requested by Group necessary to render the Services. Clinical Sleep Director shall be responsible for accurate and completedocumentation of all Services provided by Clinical Sleep Director. All client records shall be the property of Group and Group shall be responsible for the maintenance and ownership of such records.
Clinical Sleep Director will also perform the following in accordance with Group’s policies and procedures :if at any time during a client encounter, Clinical Sleep Director determines that the client requires the Services of a licensed healthcare professional, Clinical Sleep Director will recommend to the client that he / she be seen by a licensed professional. Clinical Sleep Director will document this determination and advice.
In the event Clinical Sleep Director determines a client is in need of emergency medical care at any time during an encounter, Clinical Sleep Director will take such steps as are necessary to ensure the client is referred to an emergency department and / or dials 9-1-1.Clinical Sleep Director shall have no contact with any Group client outside of this Agreement.Clinical Sleep Director shall accurately answer and comply with the representations and warranties and other requirements set forth in Group’s Clinical Sleep Director Certification Form, as may be amended from time to time, which is attached hereto as Exhibit B and incorporated herein.Clinical Sleep Director shall perform such other lawful activities as may be requested by Group, its designees, or its clients from time to time that are necessary for the performance of the Services under Group’s agreement(s) with clients.Clinical Sleep Director shall, during the term of this Agreement, provide prompt and professional Clinical Sleep Director services to clients regardless of age, sex, race, religion, disability, color, national origin, or any other status protected by applicable law. Such Services shall be consistent with the facilities, personnel, and equipment available and in conformity with the prevailing standard of care in the community for the Services.Although Group shall provide Clinical Sleep Director with its technology platform, Clinical Sleep Director shall not use Group’s technology platform for any purpose other than to provide Services exclusively through this Agreement. Clinical Sleep Director shall be solely responsible for expenses Clinical Sleep Director incurs, including travel, Clinical Sleep Director’s smartphone, hardware, equipment, and internet connectivity.Clinical Sleep Director shall comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations relating to the maintenance, uses and disclosures of protected health information, including without limitation the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, as codified at 42 U.S.C. § 1320d through d-8, as amended, including federal privacy regulations and security standards (“HIPAA Requirements”). Clinical Sleep Director shall enter into any further agreements as necessary to facilitate compliance with the HIPAA Requirements. Clinical Sleep Director agrees to notify Group in writing of any security incident or breach involving any Group health records as soon as practicable and in any event within twenty-four (24) hours after Clinical Sleep Director becomes aware of such incident. All health records shall be the property of Group and Group shall be responsible for the maintenance and ownership of such records. Unless otherwise requested by Group, Clinical Sleep Director agrees that Clinical Sleep Director shall not review or examine any such health records or files except of those Group clients or clients Clinical Sleep Director counsels, and Clinical Sleep Director further agrees that Clinical Sleep Director shall not remove or cause to be removed any files, charts, records or information available therein, or copies thereof, from the Group’s location or for such other purpose as the parties may otherwise agree in advance.Why Join Us?
