What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Therapist-Full Time position at Empath Health?
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy or related field; 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Credentialed as a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) preferred, or eligible to sit for the exam within the first year of employment.
- Proficient in music performance and creating a therapeutic environment.
- Reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance (for field-based positions).
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with IDT to identify patient/family needs for music therapy and accept referrals.
- Provide music therapy and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
- Develop treatment plans addressing cognitive, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and care partners.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and educational programs.
- Provide bereavement support and attend memorial services as needed.
- Educate staff, patients, and the community about the role of music therapy.
