What will you be doing?
Making an impact every day. You will be part of a dynamic, passionate team of professionals who work as Education and Employment Specialists providing employment consultations to EMPath program participants. You will be responsible for increasing the capacity of the organization and its staff in advancing the job placement of program participants. Activities include, but are not limited to, supporting program participants in building a career portfolio (resume, cover letter, etc.), providing trainings / facilitated discussions with EMPath program teams to increase staff knowledge and abilities in supporting participants in obtaining employment, building relationships with Boston-area employers and job training programs to strengthen EMPath’s ability to make job and training referrals, and staying up to date and communicating with staff regarding job market trends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide high-quality career coaching services, including career planning and exploration, to low-income adults.
- Collaborate with primary program mentors to work toward all program participants leaving EMPath programs with completed Career Portfolios. This will include joint participant meetings, running reports on progress toward completion of portfolios across programs, and problem-solving with teams to increase rates of completed portfolios.
- Offer services including career readiness activities, job search techniques, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation and practice, managing workplace culture / employer’s expectations, and career advancement.
- Effectively utilize EMPath’s data system to run reports that identify program and participant trends to inform program support, as well as to monitor and accept referral requests from program staff to support participants’ career needs.
- Facilitate small group discussions and / or trainings to participants and / or staff on various employment-related topics.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert to the Learning Development staff on the Center for Learning & Practice team to support the development of online courses for staff and participants on career placement and advancement.
- Build relationships with Boston-area employers and job readiness / placement agencies to increase EMPath’s ability to make referrals for participants to advance their careers.
- Identify and regularly update job market trends (i.e., identify growing / promising industries, trends in successful application materials, most impactful training programs, etc.) in the Boston-area that are shared with program staff and participants.
- Research and stay proficient in best practices related to coaching clients toward upward economic mobility.

Work-life balance : Full-time, hybrid work opportunity. EMPath transitioned to a 36-hour, 4-day work week. This position requires 2 days in-office (EMPath's offices are across the Boston metro) and 2 days remote. Some evenings and weekends may be required. 4 weeks of paid time off & 9 paid holidays.
