Position Summary
Responsible for management of product line including product planning, product definition, profit and loss, sales performance, product margin, promotion and product life cycle management and developing strategies to optimize the performance of existing and new products.
Position Responsibilities
- Plans and organizes significant business activities which require input from multiple sources and personnel across all company departments
- Specific examples of such projects include: Product training seminars and meetings,
- Lead person in negotiating distributor discounts and sales budgets
- Contact person for the company with regard to all Automation issues
- Define the architectural strategy and content of the product line, including performance objectives and functional specifications with cost, price and reliability objectives
- Gather customer/market requirements for product enhancements across all global regions
- Using information to create customer centric market requirements to the engineering and test teams for product development
- Product promotion and product introductions, including sales and support staffing training.
- Also responsible for product promotion, product literature plan, product training plan for distributors and product distribution plan to achieve business objectives
- Product life cycle management including initiation of product improvements, enhancements approval of change notices and product obsolescence consistent with business objectives
- Support the RSM team the with end-user virtually.
Role Priorities
- Assists the Engineering Department in regard to product redesign to resolve product or production difficulties
- Assists in the design and development of special testing machines
- Performs other duties when required or requested
- Develops a business plan for portfolio of products, including strategies and tactics
- Prices products to meet the Company financial goal while retaining market competitiveness
Role Qualifications
- Coordinates with Marketing Services the production of advertising and collateral materials, i.e., literature, mailers, manuals, etc.
- Coordinates with the Applications lab training, sales and customer service representatives, and end users
- Visits customers and dealers, work with sales representatives to achieve goals and fulfill job responsibilities
- Understand product sales performance in each region, collaborating with marketing and sales to deliver growth goals through the development of programs and or sales support for conversions and projects
Essential Skills and Experience
- Maintain all updates pertaining to new market and application opportunities by which to grow the current product portfolio through introducing and facilitating new relationships with external manufacturers, dealers and customer
- Originates and /or develops designs for products relating to define customer needs or as possible proprietary items.
- Including the adaptation of existing designs to new-customer applications
- Plans and directs the construction of prototypes to meet customer and internal requirements
- Designs may be in the form of freehand sketches or final detail drawings, depending on timing and available drafting time
- Attention to detail.
- Establishes test requirements if not previously specified by the customer, and develops and directs the testing of new-product prototypes to verify product reliability
Beneficial Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred
- One to Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
