Empire Access is recruiting for an Accounting Associate to join our outgoing and dedicated finance department as an Accounting Associate!

Job Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to perform accounts payable functions, prepare journal entries, maintain general ledger account schedules, assist with special projects, and other accounting duties as assigned. The candidate must also be motivated to work independently, yet collaboratively in a fast-paced diverse team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, review, and process invoices from vendors using accounting software and standard company procedures to document purchases to assure maximum consistency of the information
- Perform all coding tasks according to company purchasing policies so that accurate automated reports can be extracted from the information
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with all job tasks
- Assist staff accountants by completing accounts payable tasks to support check runs, periodic projects such as month end reconciliation, spending analyses and audits
- Analyze discrepancies with invoices and research information to discover the source of the problem, making sure all disbursements are correct and suggesting procedure changes as necessary
- Utilize clear and professional communication in the course of performing job duties
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions according to established accounting policies, procedures, and classifications.
- Distributes expenditures, receipts, and payables according to schedules.
- Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Assist with analysis of monthly actual to budget variances
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Proficiency with MS Excel required, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and knowledge of various accounting software a plus.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and general business operations
- Skill in problem solving, locating and correction of discrepancies in data, prioritizing and completing multiple projects.
- Good verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
- Ability to function as a team player.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with Company information.
- Ability to demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- Related experience is preferred. Understanding telecommunications accounting a plus.
Working Conditions: Work in office settings, spending much of their time at a desk using computer software for tasks like data analysis and financial reporting. Periods of high activity, such as month-end or year-end closings, may require longer hours to meet deadlines.
