Key Responsibilities:
- Excavation and Drilling: Conduct excavation and drilling activities to install fiber optic cables in designated areas, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain specialized equipment, including directional drills, augers, and trenchers, to facilitate the installation process.
- Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites by clearing obstacles, digging trenches, and ensuring proper conditions for the installation of fiber optic cables.
- Cable Installation: Assist in the placement and installation of fiber optic cables, conduits, and related infrastructure with precision and attention to detail.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to minimize accidents and promote a safe working environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with ground hands, construction crews, and other team members to ensure seamless coordination and communication throughout the installation process.
- Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot issues that may arise during the construction process, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in construction drilling and excavation work, with a focus on fiber optic installations preferred.
- Proficient in the operation of directional drills, augers, and trenchers. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
- Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse team members. The role involves close collaboration with team members, including ground hands, construction crews, and project managers. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for project success.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Certification or training in excavation and construction drilling is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- The construction driller role primarily involves outdoor work, often in varying weather conditions. This includes exposure to sun, rain, snow, and other environmental elements.
- The job requires physical fitness and stamina, as it involves lifting heavy equipment, digging, and performing manual labor for extended periods.
- Construction projects may require flexibility in work hours, including weekends and evenings, to meet project deadlines. Overtime may be necessary.
- The position may involve travel to different job sites within a designated geographic area. A valid driver's license is often required.
- Adherence to safety protocols is crucial. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety vests, and steel-toed boots, is mandatory.
- The construction driller may be exposed to loud noise levels due to the operation of heavy machinery. Ear protection is provided and required.
