Job Summary: Daily tasks would include but are not limited to communication with the territory engineer to map, post and complete cable assignments and data into the Outside Plant mapping databases. Act as liaison between Outside Plant and other functional groups to provide cross functional support for GIS development and mapping needs. Lead development and integration of existing and new GIS systems and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage & maintain a digital library of geographical data and provide expertise, support, and assistance to various functional groups within the organization.
- Develop and integrate existing and new GIS systems and tools.
- Assist in managing outside plant records in mapping systems. This includes design, drawings, CAD, as-builts and work orders.
- Become proficient in understanding telecommunications infrastructure construction and design in order to facilitate record and database enhancements.
- Knowledgeable in outside plant engineering practices and the telecommunications industry.
- Quantitative ability and knowledge of computer programming (i.e. Python), cartography, and data analysis.

- Valid Driver’s License
- Previous training experience. GIS certification. Strong interpersonal communications skills. Ability to work with multiple mapping systems, QGIS, ArcGIS, M4, MapKit-Elations, Google Earth, Microsoft Excel, etc.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 5 years of GIS experience with a preference for experience in the telecommunications industry.
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside-weather conditions.
