PROCESS ENGINEER
Seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented process engineer to join our team at Empire Bakery Commissary.
As the Process Engineer you will analyze and optimize manufacturing and industrial processes to improve efficiency and safety, expand capacity and reduce waste. This includes designing, troubleshooting and optimizing processes. You will need to demonstrate rigorous and effective process analysis, robust data collection, process modeling, project management and communication. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams and occasionally assist in training others.
Objectives:
- Monitor and analyze process data, identifying trends and applying statistical analysis tools.
- Make recommendations to improve the methods, integrity and completeness of the data being gathered.
- Perform capability studies to identify opportunities for improvement and root cause of inefficiencies.
- Propose, develop and implement solutions for process improvements.
- Occasionally provide data or analysis to production, maintenance and quality teams and consult as they identify and drive problem solving activities
- Occasionally support troubleshooting and resolution of equipment when line is experiencing downtime.
- Support or lead continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen, Fishbone, 5-Why, DMAIC, process mapping, etc.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements in all process and project engineering activities.
- Conduct detailed analysis and evaluation of existing manufacturing equipment and processes, identifying areas for improvement and recommending appropriate
- Occasionally collaborate with maintenance, production and quality assurance teams to aid in the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in process engineering technologies, methodologies and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, industrial or similar).
- 5 years of experience as a process engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques, lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies and statistical analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex process issues.
- Working knowledge of process safety, risk assessment and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Experience with process improvement tools and methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S and Value Stream Mapping.
- Experience with process automation and control systems.
- Knowledge of automation and control systems, such as SCADA and PLC.
- Knowledge of process simulation software and computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
- Solid understanding of quality management systems, such as ISO standards and cGMPs
