At Empire Fire Protection, we primarily focus on commercial projects, including tenant improvements, ground-up construction, and public works projects. Our team also specializes in unique and technically advanced projects, such as rack storage systems, maritime fire protection systems, and clean rooms.

Hybrid Remote Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid remote work environment, combining the flexibility of working from home with the hands-on engagement of on-site visits. While much of the design and project management work can be completed remotely, the role requires job site visits for surveys, pre-construction meetings, and quality assurance inspections. These site visits are essential to ensuring the accuracy of designs, assessing project requirements, and maintaining high standards of execution.

Key Responsibilities
- Design Fire Sprinkler Systems: Utilize AutoCAD, AutoSprink, and other design software to create detailed drawings and plans for fire sprinkler systems in accordance with industry standards, NFPA guidelines, and local regulatory requirements. Conduct site visits, coordinate with contractors, and ensure designs meet project specifications.
- Project Management: Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful completion. Serve as the primary liaison for clients, contractors, and internal teams, managing project deliverables and resolving challenges as they arise.
- Permitting and Compliance: Take responsibility for obtaining permits and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Collaborate with AHJs to meet project requirements.
- Material Procurement: Manage material and equipment procurement to ensure adherence to specifications, timely delivery, and project readiness.
- Site Visits and Inspections: Conduct pre-construction meetings, evaluate site conditions, and oversee installation activities. Perform quality control checks to ensure systems are installed per design specifications.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed project records, including drawings, contracts, RFIs, change orders, and progress reports. Provide stakeholders with updates on project milestones, potential issues, and final outcomes.
- Mentorship and Development: Support entry level designers and team members, fostering a collaborative environment. Stay informed on advancements in fire protection technology and continue developing your expertise in design and project management.
Qualifications
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of AutoCAD or similar drafting software; proficiency with AutoSprink is a preferred.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft ecosystem, including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with diverse teams and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and producing high-quality deliverables.
- Working knowledge of fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC, and local building codes) required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in fire protection design, construction management, or a related field.
- NICET Level I or II Certification in Water-Based Systems Layout preferred; willingness to pursue further certifications required.
- Clean driving record and valid Washington State driver’s license.
- Mechanical aptitude is essential.
