Job Description: Landscape and Facilities Maintenance Specialist
A Landscape and Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces, ensuring safe and accessible conditions during winter months, handling various miscellaneous tasks, and performing outdoor building clean-up. They manage plants, trees, structures, snow removal equipment, and waste management to keep the environment clean and functional.
Responsibilities

Planting and Cultivation: Deciding the types of flowers, trees, and shrubs to plant and where to plant them.

Lawn Care: Regularly mowing the grass, edging, and fertilizing lawns.

Pruning and Trimming: Trimming, pruning, or shearing hedges, shrubs, and trees for form or safety reasons.

Irrigation and Water Management: Regular watering or scheduling watering of certain sections for growth and managing moisture levels.

Pest and Weed Control: Taking care of weeds, pests, diseases, and other factors that would boost the general health of the plants.

Soil Preparation and Mulching: Using mulch and soil to ensure the place is suitable for the growth of different plants.

Equipment Maintenance: Maintaining and operating landscaping tools and equipment, such as mowers, pruners, and leaf blowers.

Design and Installation: Collaborating with architects and garden designers to create landscape designs and install features like benches, fountains, fences, and walking paths.

General Maintenance: Ensuring plant growth, cleaning outdoor facilities, and trimming overgrown hedges.

Safety and Cleanliness: Disinfecting areas with insecticides and other necessary chemicals to ensure safety for clients and visitors.

Snow Removal: Removing snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots using shovels, snow blowers, or other tools.

De-icing: Applying salt, sand, or other de-icing agents to walkways, driveways, and other surfaces to prevent ice buildup and ensure safety.

Snow Plowing: Operating snow plows to clear larger areas such as parking lots, roads, and large driveways.

Emergency Response: Being on-call during winter months to respond to snow and ice removal needs promptly.

Client Communication: Interacting with clients to schedule landscaping and snow removal services, address concerns, and provide updates.
