Basic Function
The Division of Small Business & Technology Development (SBTD) directs programs and initiatives to support entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small businesses across New York State. The Program Assistant position will provide programmatic and operational support to the Division of Entrepreneur Development (ED), a subdivision of SBTD, as well as State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) programs, which are administered by ED as well as other SBTD subdivisions.

Minimum Qualifications
Education Level required: Associate degree; HS Diploma or equivalent with 5 years relevant experience may be substituted.
Experience required: 1-3 years of relevant experience in data analysis, programmatic administrative support, or a related field, Government or non-profit environment preferred.
Knowledge preferred: The ideal candidate will possess: (1) an interest in supporting small businesses across New York State – particularly businesses led by historically-disadvantaged populations; (2) familiarity with government grant-making or related activities, including the tracking and documenting of project information and organizing of data; (3) a strong attention to detail, and ability to provide logistical support; (4) ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally on project matters; (5) flexibility and willingness to take on new projects and efforts to support the SBTD division and the VP of Entrepreneurship.

- Supports project managers to implement programs effectively and efficiently.
- Assists project managers and the full ED team with program development and implementation, including database management, monitoring of grantees, and scheduling and logistics.
- Tracks project, grantee, or program progress and prepares or compiles regular reports in Excel or other reporting tools.
- Monitors assistance and services provided to small businesses or partners through a centralized database, including documenting success stories and best practices.
- Supports implementation of the federal SSBCI program across SBTD, including the preparation of reports, coordination between teams, and other tasks as necessary.
- Undertakes special projects or initiatives as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Limited Travel within New York to conduct program oversight or support ED and SBTD.
