Staff Accountant

STAFF ACCOUNTANT   

Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. (ESAero) is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our finance department. ESAero is a growing aerospace company in the San Luis Obispo area and provides various services which include but are not limited to rapid system development, on-demand niche engineering, hands-on development/testing, and small UAS aerospace system manufacturing.  

**This position is fully on-site at ESAero in San Luis Obispo, CA** 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for month-end close and other ad hoc financial reports. 

• Book monthly journal entries (accruals, recurring, and adjustments). 

• Execute monthly/quarterly closing procedures. 

• Perform analytical evaluation of balance sheet and income statement accounts. 

• Timely completion of assigned balance sheet reconciliations, for debt, leases, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and liability accounts. 

• Participate in different payroll projects and other initiatives as assigned. 

• Prepare interim and year-end audit deliverables and support the audit process as needed. 

• Support effective internal control environment. 

• Support Finance Manager with various tasks/projects. 

Qualifications/Requirements:  

• 2 Years Accounting Experience  

• Experience with ERP/NetSuite & Paychex (preferred, not required)  

• BS in Accounting or Finance preferred  

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills  

• Extreme attention to detail  

• Working knowledge of payroll policy management, month-end close, including journal entries, and reconciliations 

• Relevant experience with balance sheet account reconciliations, including debt, leases, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intangibles 

• Understanding of business accounting principles and software as well as basic auditing principles  

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP 

• Familiarity with Government compliance a plus

Salary Range: $70-95k (DOE) 

Salary : $70,000 - $95,000
