Infrastructure Engineer

Chicago, IL

Hybrid - Tues / Wed / Thurs (in office), Mon / Fri (remote)

EMPIST is currently seeking a Infrastructure Engineer for our growing team!

What youll do :

Implement advanced technical solutions, including new system deployments and service modifications.
Develop advanced networking configurations and firewall rules.
Deliver exceptional customer support, either remotely or onsite, as required.
Perform complex system migrations and configurations.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding progress, issues, and scope adjustments.
Provide input and recommendations to enhance project planning and development.
Design and implement Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce organizational policies.
Install and configure virtual machine hosts.
Build cloud-based servers and establish connections with on-premises systems.
Configure Azure Active Directory (AAD) and DirSync for Office 365.
Troubleshoot advanced applications and server-related issues.
Design and optimize Active Directory (AD) structures, including permissions.
Utilize Change Controls and can evaluate, approve / deny, and recommend alternatives to Change proposals.
Assist with Backup restore and resolve Backup alerts.

REQUIREMENTS : Technical :

Five or more years experiences as an engineer (network, systems, etc.)

Current Bachelors degree (or higher) in associated field

CCNA / CCNP / Network or equivalent advanced networking experience (Intermediate certifications a must)

Experience executing network troubleshooting, configuration, and architecting solutions across the vendor spectrum including both physical and virtual environments.

Knowledge of ASA, Meraki and FortiGate firewalls, site to site configurations, and Client VPNs

Knowledge of HP / Aruba, Meraki, Cisco, Fortinet switching products and / or Fortinet Wireless solutions

Basic Knowledge of VoIP

Work in-office, at client site, and remotely to execute on the responsibilities of the role.

Ability to participate in an on-call shift rotation

Work within a team environment and provide assistance and mentorship to other team members

Use of proactive monitoring tools to identify potential issues

Exhibit advanced knowledge of DNS configurations for internal and external systems.

Demonstrate expertise in Windows configurations and services.

Possess in-depth understanding of Office 365 licensing, rules, configurations, and functionality.

Demonstrate proficiency in cloud platforms such as Azure and VMware

Showcase experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions, including Intune and Autopilot.

Personal :

Ability to use all available resources including forums, tech support, team members and internal knowledgebase to solve problems

Flexible with an ability to rapidly adapt to changes

Ability to execute against competing priorities and accomplish all assigned tasks

Positive attitude and ability to interface with customers

Documentation of resolutions and contribution to internal knowledgebase articles and training

Willingness to engage in career development training

PREFERRED :

Knowledge of the following technologies :

Sonicwall, Watchguard, Sophos, and Palo Alto Firewalls

3CX, Cisco UC, Ring Central, Vonage, and Microsoft Teams Phone systems

Cisco Wireless Lan Controllers and Unifi networks

SSO / SAML integration

AWS environment

ITGlue or other knowledge base platform

Compensation : $80,000 - $100,000
