$7,500 HIRING INCENTIVE
PAYMENT SCHEDULE
$3,000 paid at the time of hire
$3,000 at successful completion of probation
$1,500 at end of two years of employment
Under direction, supervises and coordinates the records activities of the Police Department; serves as administrative support to all department members; produces monthly statistical reports for local, State, and Federal agencies. Exercises direct supervision over clerical staff.
Examples of Duties
Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists department personnel and the public in researching information and approving the release of information, pursuant to departmental policy, State, and Federal laws;
- Supervises, trains, assigns, and evaluates the work of assigned staff;
- Processes, types, and files a wide variety of confidential criminal and administrative reports;
- Produces weekly and monthly statistical reports for local, State, and Federal agencies;
- Purges arrest and crime reports as prescribed by law;
- Processes subpoenas for records and court orders;
- Seals juvenile records by court order;
- Enters, modifies, and retrieves data from crime reports into both an in-house and the State computer systems;
- Orders and maintains office supplies for the department;
- Processes cash bail and bail bonds for arrestees and the courts;
- Balances and deposits all cash intake;
- Performs matron duties;
- Processes registrants for the Department of Justice;
- Completes monthly validation lists for the Department of Justice regarding CLETS entries and inquiries;
- Serves as CLETS coordinator;
- Transcribes 911 and evidence tapes for court trials; and
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Four years of increasingly responsible police records management experience.
Education:
- Equivalent to a high school diploma.
Licenses and Certificates:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a CLETS Trainer's Certificate issued by the Department of Justice within 9 months of appointment.
Special Requirements:
Essential functions and duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:
- Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to travel to different sites and locations.
- Regularly required to talk or hear. Required to sit, stand, and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
