Job Title: Accounting Specialist
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Canton, OH
Job Summary: The Accounting Specialist supports the finance department with the administration of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This position also supports the Chief Financial Officer and performs numerous accounting and human resources related functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintains files, including:
- Membership Applications
- Selected Services Agreements
- Financials, including A/R, A/P and bank statements from previous fiscal year.
- A/P Check Copies
- Vendor W-9 Forms
- A/R Invoices
Purges files as dictated by Document Retention Policy
Adds/updates contacts into QuickBooks when notified
Oversees financial mailings:
- Reviews quarterly rebate letters
- Prints quarterly rebate checks
- Prepares monthly letters and checks to recipients of Access Fees
Perform A/P functions:
- Enter vendor invoices into QuickBooks
- Prints A/P checks for signature
- Follows up with vendors with outstanding checks
- Prepares and reviews open A/P Aging Reports
- Emails report for open pass-through payments to appropriate team members for bi-weekly meeting
Perform A/R functions:
- Preparation & submissions of invoices
- Receive payments in QuickBooks and deposit checks through Remote Deposit Capture.
- Uses “Square” to receive credit card payments from sponsors.
- Prepares and reviews A/R Aging Report
- Coordinates day-to-day employee benefit functions including adding/removing participants and paying premiums.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Skills Required:
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Internet Explorer and Outlook applications
- Proficient in the use of office machines, including copier, postage machine, paper folder, and electric typewriter
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks and Salesforce
- Maintains good working relationship with all staff members
- Excellent verbal and written skills
Education and Experience Required:
- Associate’s degree and 3 years' experience in a professional accounting role
- Experience in a healthcare or managed care organization is a plus
Travel Required:
- 0-5% travel requirement including overnight in state
