What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Employment Practices Group?
We’re a committed team of over 400 employees based in Nassau County, Long Island led by a knowledgeable and caring group of managers. The Staff Accountant role will be a key part of this team, focusing on recording, reconciling, and maintaining our financial data and transactions while ensuring compliance and smooth operations. The successful candidate will work closely with internal departments, project managers, and vendors to collect data and deliver accurate reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Reconcile monthly general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Prepare and maintain monthly financial reports for management review.
Complete monthly compliance reporting, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and deadlines.
Reconcile monthly bank statements
Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information.
Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
Assist with year-end financial audit preparation and coordination.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and MS Office, especially Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certification or degree in accounting/finance is preferred.
