IT Data Reporting Analyst

 JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The IT Data Reporting Analyst will be part of the IT Management, Strategy & Transformation team, serving as a shared resource to provide reporting support across IT. This role requires strong collaboration skills, as the analyst will work closely with various cross-functional teams and individuals from both business and IT functions. Successful candidates will bring experience in Business Intelligence (BI), reporting, analytics, and planning.

This position involves the management, development, and delivery of IT reports, requiring extensive knowledge of report generation across multiple data sources. The IT Data Reporting Analyst will be responsible for understanding reporting tools, gathering requirements, and developing comprehensive reports to support IT decision-making and strategy. With minimal supervision, the analyst will work with project teams, subject matter experts, and leadership to ensure that reporting requirements are understood and reports provide meaningful insights to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Position Responsibilities:

• Data Analysis & Reporting:
  • Develop, design, and maintain interactive Power BI reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights across IT and business units.
  • Gather and understand reporting requirements from stakeholders to create tailored solutions that meet business needs.
  • Analyze data from various sources (e.g., databases, spreadsheets, APIs) to generate meaningful insights and reports.
• Data Integration & Transformation:
  • Integrate data from multiple sources (SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, ERP, cloud services, etc.) into Power BI using Power Query and other ETL tools.
  • Design and implement data models and relationships that align with IT reporting requirements.
  • Perform data transformation tasks, including cleaning, reshaping, and enriching data to ensure accuracy and relevance.
• Dashboard Design & Optimization:
  • Design and implement visually engaging and intuitive dashboards to help users easily interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Optimize performance of reports and dashboards to ensure they load quickly and efficiently, even with large datasets.
  • Continuously improve and enhance existing reports by implementing feedback and identifying new reporting opportunities.
• Collaboration with IT and Business Stakeholders:
  • Work closely with business analysts, IT teams, and other stakeholders to understand evolving reporting needs.
  • Ensure that Power BI reports are aligned with IT governance, data security standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Act as the liaison between business users and IT teams, translating technical concepts into business-friendly language.
• User Support & Training:
  • Provide training on reporting tools to internal IT team members.
  • Provide training and support to end users, helping them understand and navigate reports and dashboards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Power BI reports, including data discrepancies, loading problems, or visualization bugs.
• Documentation & Best Practices:
  • Maintain documentation for Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models to ensure clarity on how reports are built and their sources.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for report creation, design, and performance optimization.
• Reporting Automation:
  • Implement scheduled refreshes and automated delivery of reports to relevant stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate information is distributed.
• Continuous Learning & Improvement:
  • Stay updated with the latest Power BI features and best practices, ensuring the adoption of new functionalities that improve reporting and analytics.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, reporting, or a similar role, preferably in an IT environment.
• Familiarity with IT governance and best practices in reporting, data security, and compliance.
• Strong proficiency with Power BI (or similar BI platforms) including report/dashboard design, data modeling, and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
• Proven experience in developing reports and dashboards using Power BI, SQL, or other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik).
• Experience with data integration, transformation, and ETL processes across various data sources such as databases (SQL, Oracle), spreadsheets, and cloud platforms.
• Proficient in SQL for querying, data manipulation, and creating complex queries across relational databases.
• Experience with data visualization and creating meaningful, easy-to-interpret dashboards and reports.
• Familiarity with data transformation tools like Power Query for preparing datasets.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify trends, patterns, and insights within data.
• Ability to break down complex business requirements into actionable data models and reports.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and consistency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including IT teams, business stakeholders, and leadership.
• Ability to understand and document reporting requirements from diverse stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment.
• Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership for assigned reporting tasks.
• Adaptable and able to handle changes in priorities or reporting requirements.

Additional Desired Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or equivalent certifications in Power BI and Business Intelligence tools.
• MBA a plus
• Prior technical experience in software development is a plus
