Job Summary: The Staff Accountant works closely with the Accounting Manager to assist in a wide range of accounting functions, including monthly general ledger (GL) and bank reconciliations, transaction processing, cost allocation, financial analysis, and the establishment of financial and compliance controls. All transactions must adhere to GAAP, company policies, and government regulations. This role is vital to the organization's financial operations, ensuring that financial records are accurate and up-to-date to support informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries for routine transactions, ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger.
- Provide monthly reconciliation and supporting documentation for balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze and monitor inventory costs.
- Maintain fixed asset and in-progress subledgers.
- Manage specific aspects of Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and banking, including reviewing and safeguarding related documentation.
- Support annual audits and financial reviews.
- Assist with the monthly and year-end financial closing processes.
- Perform detailed analysis of work order performance and profitability.
- Take on additional ad-hoc duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, particularly in a manufacturing environment with inventory management responsibilities.
- Proven experience in managing inventory costs.
- Collaborate with operations teams to analyze monthly variances and performance deviations.
- Adaptable in a cross-cultural work environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
