Role Overview
Our Engineering team is looking for an experienced Test Engineer to support both our existing EVSE product line and new products in development. The ideal candidate will have experience in all areas of hardware test – everything from requirements tracking, writing test plans, building test fixtures, executing in house testing, organizing and assisting out of house testing, production line test, and test data organization. We are looking for someone excited to be involved in all of these areas, either through direct ownership or by working with our existing team.
This role is expected to focus primarily on working with external partners to understand their test needs and execute the testing accordingly.
We are a small team requiring a high level of collaboration and teamwork to ensure we achieve our goals. This provides a great opportunity for engineers that like to learn new things and for people that enjoy working on a variety of tasks.
Responsibilities

Requirements tracking and verification, including verification method determination.

Developing test profiles for reliability and accelerated environmental testing including thermal fatigue, thermal shock, corrosion weathering and ingress testing

Performing statistical analyses to determine test sample quantities required to meet reliability targets

Generating high quality reports to share test results and analysis with customers

Work with product teams to develop overall product test strategies to help turn prototype designs into production units.

Collaborating with the hardware and firmware team to perform root cause analysis

Ownership of both in-house and out-of-house test equipment, methods, documentation, and execution.

Validating new product features in collaboration with our firmware team

Working closely with our in-house compliance team on definition of required pre-screens and/or risk reduction testing for UL, FCC, and other standard tests.

Working closely with our contract manufacturer and in house operations teams to either design in house solutions, or review out of house solutions, for production line testing.

Assist design engineers as needed with development testing.
Required Qualifications & Skills
-
5 or more years of experience developing and executing test plans for complex products as a test engineer, electrical engineer, or related role.

Experience working with automotive OEMs and managing deliverables for their product development processes

Demonstrated experience managing workload and project deliverables.

Electrical, mechanical, and environmental test methods and equipment expert.

Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and other ECAD data. Experience developing schematics for in house test systems including test racks, harnessing, and PCBAs.

Familiarity with both AC (3-phase and split phase 240V) and high voltage DC power systems, and the testing of such systems.

Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis using Fishbone/Fault Tree analysis/ FMEA

Working knowledge of renewable energy related concepts such as home energy storage systems, general power conversion/regulation/distribution, electric vehicles and charging systems, etc.

Familiar with one or more scripting languages such as Python, Javascript, Visual Basic, or equivalent. Proficient at using such languages for lab equipment automation. Ability to automate complex lab testing without relying on LabView.

Strong writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Knowledge of automotive communication protocols and standards (ISO15118-2, J1772)

Familiarity with UL safety test standards such as UL 2231-½

Experience with certification testing including UL, FCC, and Energy Star

Expert in Python based lab automation
