$15.62 additional compensation for experience and education.

Purpose:The Library Clerk assists the Librarian in helping students and teachers make full use of the school library program, working closely with USD 253 staff and administration.

Supervises:Librarian and Principal

Qualifications:
  1. At least 48 college credit hours or ParaPro Assessment completion.
  2. Experience with various computer software applications.
  3. Health and Inoculation Certificate on file.
  4. Acceptable alternatives as determined by the board.
Essential Functions:
  1. Help students and teachers utilize the library's resources.
  2. Ensure programs align with district guidelines.
  3. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, especially ELA teachers and parents.
  4. Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  5. Respond to change productively and complete assigned tasks.
  6. Support education values and USD 253's vision and mission.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
  1. Prolonged sitting or standing required.
  2. Occasional physical exertion to move heavy objects.
  3. Stooping, bending, and reaching occasionally required.
  4. Balancing occasionally required.
  5. Work indoors and outdoors year-round.
  6. Work in noisy and crowded environments.
General Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in supervising students in the library.
  2. Prepare and present library skills lessons with the librarian.
  3. Order books, materials, equipment, and supplies for the library.
  4. Conduct inventory, processing, and card cataloging.
  5. Supervise book checkout and monitor overdue items.
  6. Facilitate hallway traffic and support Emporia Public Schools' mission and vision.
  7. Work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and community agencies.
  8. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and laws.
  9. Stay current with new technologies and regulatory requirements.
  10. Enforce board policy, administrative procedures, and school rules.
  11. Maintain safe and organized instructional spaces.
  12. Communicate positively about the school program.
  13. Complete other duties assigned by the Librarian or Administrative Staff.
