Groundskeeper and Camp Host Job Description
OVERVIEW
Groundskeepers perform routine and preventative maintenance to maintain the physical integrity of our campground. They conduct building maintenance repairs and are responsible for cleanliness and upkeep of property grounds, facilities, streets, equipment & various utility systems. Groundskeepers provide excellent customer service to prospective & current guests and residents at all times and may assist with site setups to ensure timely arrivals and departures of campground guests and residents.
Responsibilities
- Empty trash, shovel, perform maintenance or repair duties, use power equipment, drills or other hand tools
- Completes minor repairs to rental units and facilities as needed
- Inspects the irrigation system regularly to ensure it is working properly, repairs as necessary
- Inspects playground area and equipment, pool/spa area, and other recreational amenities to ensure everything is in good condition, making minor repairs as needed
- Ensures the campground is presentable and inviting at all times and that it adheres to KOA curb appeal standards
- Regularly treats for weeds, weed whips, rakes leaves, plants flowers/shrubs, spreads mulch/woodchips/stones, trims shrubs and hedges, cuts down and removes tree limbs damaged by adverse weather conditions, and performs other lawn care services as necessary
- Ensure the dog park is clean and safe, including picking up waste, refilling waste bag dispensers, and maintaining fencing and equipment.
- Ensures trash/debris is picked up daily from common areas and streets on a daily basis. Empties common area trash containers as needed
- Cleans campground amenities which may include bathhouse, campground offices, laundry areas, and maintenance garage
- Conduct monthly submeter readings for all sites.
- Maintains vacant sites, including strap-downs & removal of trash and debris
- Removes snow from roads, parking lots, building entrances and other areas of the campground and is responsible for maintaining, where applicable. May include using a truck with a plow, spreading salt, snow blowing, and/or shoveling
- Completes checklists of physical condition of campground sites prior to and after guest occupancy.
- Assists Manager with supervision of service contractors
- Reports on all maintenance issues and concerns that may be identified while performing daily duties to manager.
- Ensures all campground streets and public access routes are free of hazards
- Filling propane as needed for guests once certified.
- Maintains campground vehicles and equipment
- Follows safety procedures while performing duties, including safely operating vehicles when moving from site to site & picking up supplies
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
- Perform additional tasks assigned by the Campground Manager to support the overall operation and maintenance of the campground.
- Escorting guests to their sites with the golf per KOA standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Must have a valid driver's licence
- 6 months previous groundskeeping/maintenance experience in a campground or RV campground
- Demonstrated knowledge of and broad experience in general maintenance techniques and repair work
- Ability to endure seasonal temperatures as working conditions require constant outdoor work, we are open year-round.
- General knowledge of janitorial work, plumbing, minor electrical and ground maintenance
- Proficient skills in operating various hand tools, power equipment, and commercial machinery
- Ability to work well independently as well as on a team
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email, internet, and Microsoft Office
- Availability to respond to campground needs during non-business hours while on-call

Pay: $12.50 - $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
