Role:
The Physical Security Analyst is responsible for assisting with managing and maintaining the credit union's physical security systems across all locations, including alarms, surveillance, and access control. This role involves identifying security risks, coordinating mitigation strategies with the Physical Security Officer, and ensuring compliance with regulations like the New York State ATM Safety Act. The analyst responds to emergencies, provides 24/7 on-call support, and collaborates with law enforcement as needed. Additionally, the role includes training staff on security protocols and handling high-risk incidents, ensuring a safe environment for employees and members.
This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum of five days on-site at our headquarters in Syracuse, NY, following an initial 90-day training period conducted on-site. After the training period, candidates will need to be based in Central New York (CNY) to be able to respond to security alerts as needed. This is crucial to ensure quick and effective action when security issues arise.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience - 3 to 5 years of experience in a related security or safety management role, preferably in a financial institution or similar setting.
Education - A two-year degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field; specialized certification or licensing in security or law enforcement; relevant training from security vendors or industry professionals; or equivalent experience gained through apprenticeships or hands-on training.
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
Other Skills:
Work Environment: This role requires regular travel between locations for security inspections and monitoring. On-call availability is necessary, including after-hours responses to security alarms or emergencies. The position may involve exposure to potential security incidents, requiring the ability to remain calm under pressure. Work may also be performed in environments with varying noise levels, temperatures, and lighting conditions.

- Oversee and maintain the physical security infrastructure for all credit union locations, including headquarters, branches, and ATMs.
- Monitor and maintain alarm and surveillance systems to ensure functionality, and initiate service calls as needed.
- Manage access control systems, including staff credentials, and security badges.
- Conduct regular audits of physical security measures, recommending improvements as needed.
- Perform regular security assessments and risk analyses at all locations, identifying potential physical security threats.
- Implement strategies for minimizing vulnerabilities, using Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles.
- Evaluate security incidents and make recommendations for risk mitigation strategies, including facility layout adjustments, enhanced lighting, or updated security protocols.
- Collaborate with other departments to align security measures with overall business continuity and emergency response plans.
- Serve as the point of contact for after-hours emergency security responses, including alarm activations, break-ins, or disturbances.
- Coordinate emergency responses and work closely with law enforcement or emergency services when needed.
- Provide immediate support and action for incidents such as robberies, violent situations, or security breaches.
- Be available for on-call duties during evenings, weekends, and holidays to ensure continuous security coverage.
- Provide ongoing training to staff on security protocols, emergency procedures, and conflict de-escalation techniques.
- Guide employees in managing situations involving disruptive or abusive members or individuals.
- Develop and deliver regular security briefings and awareness campaigns to ensure all staff are informed of current risks and procedures.
- Assist in creating and maintaining the physical security program.
- Ensure compliance with security regulations, including the New York State ATM Safety Act, and local security laws.
- Assist in the preparation for audits or inspections by regulatory bodies.

- Assist with filling subpoena requests for video surveillance.
