Position Summary
As a Chemist I at Empower, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest quality standards in our pharmaceutical products. Your expertise will be crucial in performing rigorous testing and analysis on raw materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients, and finished products. Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs assigned sampling, physical, chemical tests and assay on raw materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients, in-process, finished and stability products, using various wet chemicals, physical and instrumental techniques such as:
- High Pressure Liquid Chromatography
- Gas Chromatography
- Ultraviolet Visible Spectroscopy
- Infrared Spectroscopy
- Particle Size Analyzer
- KF Auto titrator
- Bulk Density
- Other routine Quality Control (QC) instruments as per as per monograph / In-house / any other Compendial monographs.
- Plans and makes adequate inventory of test reagents and solutions to perform work, assure supplies are ordered as needed to perform assigned work.
- Analyzes experimental data using statistical methods, data visualization tools, and analytical software to draw meaningful insights and conclusions.
- Interprets experimental results, identify trends, and draw connections between observations and theoretical principles.
- Generates reports and presentations summarizing experimental findings, conclusions, and recommendations for further investigation.
- Communicates experimental plans, progress, and results in clear and concise written reports, oral presentations, and team meetings.
- Maintains accurate records of experimental procedures, observations, and results in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines.
- Prepares and/or reviews test procedures, SOPs, and protocols.
- Performs maintenance and calibrations of laboratory instruments/equipment with supervisory direction/training.
- Complies with all regulatory and departmental standards (including but not limited to safety, housekeeping, laboratory chemical waste, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and current Good Laboratory Practices documentation when performing the assigned activity.
- Operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation and equipment, ensuring proper calibration, performance, and functionality.
- Troubleshoots equipment issues, performs routine maintenance tasks, and coordinates repairs as needed to minimize downtime and ensure reliability.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to bend at the waist and knees as well as twist at the waist. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Must be able to wear laboratory protective gowning and equipment, including but not limited to gowning, goggles, face shields, respirators, and protective gloves. Personal protective equipment and respirators are essential for the health and safety of employees. Position requires working in the laboratory as well as sitting. Standing 4-8 hours per scheduled workday.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge in Good Documentation practices. Knowledge of United States Pharmacopeia, International Conference of Harmonization and Food and Drug Administration requirements.

Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field required.
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in pharmaceuticals.
- 1-2 years' experience in Analytical testing preferred.
- QC experience in Generic Pharmaceutical industries would be preferred.
