Position Summary
The Engineering Manager role at Empower is integral to ensuring the optimal operation and maintenance of our innovative manufacturing equipment. This position is essential in driving the continuous process operations that align with our core values of people, service, quality, and innovation. As the Engineering Manager, you will oversee the functionality of essential manufacturing equipment such as vial washing machines, depyrogenation tunnels, filling machines, isolators, autoclaves, purified water systems, clean steam generators, lyophilizers and other process equipment and systems. Your responsibilities will include optimizing maintenance procedures to prevent breakdowns, ensuring the availability of critical spare parts, and leading preventive maintenance and root cause analysis initiatives. You will also coordinate the engineering team's round-the-clock support for manufacturing operations, swiftly addressing any technical challenges to minimize production disruptions.
In this leadership role, you will drive process optimization and efficiency enhancements, manage engineering projects within budget and timelines, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as Operations, Quality Assurance (QA), and Regulatory Affairs. Duties and Responsibilities
- Optimizes breakdown maintenance to avoid recurrence and maintains continuous process operations by reviewing critical parts availability and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) adherence to schedule.
- Coordinates and manages the engineering team's efforts to provide round-the-clock support for manufacturing operations, promptly addressing technical challenges as they arise.
- Maintains manufacturing equipment function for successful operation.
- Ensures spares of critical machines are maintained to reduce resolution time, predicting demand, and reviewing availability.
- Strategizes to minimize impact of breakdown on quality and production by reducing service time, learning from other sites, and PPM and root cause analysis.
- Manages and supervises process equipment operations to ensure continuous utility maintenance and availability.
- Oversees engineering scrap management and disposal program for the site.
- Identifies new vendors and technologies while enhancing the engineering team's capabilities through training and hands-on experience to improve machine performance.
- Manages all operational aspects of the area including productivity, cost, continuous improvement, and daily business processes.
- Leads and oversees engineering projects, ensuring successful execution within established timelines and budget constraints.
- Identifies opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancement within the manufacturing environment to include manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Leads initiatives to implement change that improves productivity while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Ensures the availability and reliability of essential manufacturing equipment, minimize disruptions, and optimize production efficiency.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including operations, QA, and regulatory affairs, to align engineering support with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Effectively manages resources to ensure the efficient allocation of personnel and technical assets to meet operational demands.
- Prepares regular reports detailing engineering activities, including support provided, obstacles encountered, and improvement initiatives undertaken.
- Ensures the accuracy and currency of engineering process documentation and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with rigorous quality standards.
- Fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.

Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Comprehensive knowledge on operation and maintenance of injectable manufacturing equipment like vial washing machine, tunnel, filling machine, isolator, autoclave, lyophilizer, manufacturing vessels, packaging machines etc.
- Proficiency in quality management systems, including change controls, corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and deviations.
- Demonstrated success in leading and executing projects within established timelines.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Exposure to Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Skills-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering is required.
