Position Summary

At Empower, the role of Facilities Manager holds profound importance in ensuring the seamless operation of our critical manufacturing facilities. You will lead a dedicated team of technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Your leadership will not only support our daily operations but also align with our core values of prioritizing people, service, quality, and innovation. Central to your responsibilities will be ensuring the availability and reliability of essential manufacturing equipment and utilities, minimizing disruptions, and optimizing production efficiency. Through innovative solutions and adherence to rigorous quality standards, you will oversee the development and implementation of improvements that enhance our manufacturing processes and equipment. Your strategic direction in preventative maintenance will be crucial in maximizing production efficiency while minimizing downtime, ensuring that our operations run at peak performance.

 

As a key player in our commitment to excellence, you will coordinate the efforts of our facility maintenance team, providing round-the-clock support to address technical challenges promptly. Your role will also encompass regulatory compliance, including Food and Drug Administration (FDA) audit requirements and maintaining thorough documentation to uphold our standards of operational integrity. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads, motivates, and guides a team of maintenance and facilities technicians to provide seamless 24x7 support for our critical manufacturing operations.
  • Develops and mentors team members to enhance their technical skills and professional growth, and continuously fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the facilities team.
  • Ensures the availability and reliability of essential manufacturing equipment and supports utilities minimizing disruptions and optimizing production efficiency.
  • Develops and implements innovative solutions that enhance our manufacturing processes and equipment while ensuring continuous compliance with rigorous quality standards.
  • Directs the preventative maintenance process ensuring production operations run at maximum efficiency.
  • Collaborates with shift mechanics to devise repair and maintenance schedules that minimize production loss and downtime.
  • Ensures that maintenance personnel have the necessary materials, tools, drawings, and inspection gauges required to complete tasks within established work standards, safety protocols, and time limits.
  • Responsible for completing FDA audit requirements within compliance and all supporting documentation.
  • Identifies technology improvement projects.
  • Develops maintenance schedules and allocates resources effectively to maintain and optimize operation of utility equipment.
  • Coordinates and manages the facility maintenance team's efforts to provide round-the-clock utilities support for manufacturing operations and promptly addresses technical challenges.
  • Leads and oversees maintenance and facilities projects, ensuring successful execution within established timelines and budget constraints.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, quality assurance, and other functional areas, to align maintenance and facilities support with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifies opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancement within the manufacturing environment.
  • Effectively manages resources to ensure the efficient allocation of personnel and technical assets to meet operational demands.
  • Provides advanced technical guidance and support to the team, facilitating the resolution of complex challenges and promoting innovative solutions.
  • Prepares regular reports, detailing maintenance, and facilities activities, including support provided, obstacles encountered, and improvement initiatives undertaken.
  • Ensures the accuracy and currency of maintenance and facilities process documentation and procedures.
  • Monitors the performance of team members, provides feedback, and conducts performance appraisals. Coach, guide, and motivate team members in need of development and administer disciplinary processes when necessary.
  • Manages the hiring process including interviewing, training, and onboarding new employees.
  • Promotes a collaborative work environment and positive company culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.


Knowledge and Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of utility requirements for pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.
  • Proficiency in quality management systems, including change controls, corrective action preventative actions, and deviations.
  • In-depth knowledge of building automation systems and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Skills-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated. 
  • Must be able to perform rudimentary mathematical calculations.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and water system equipment in accordance with pharmaceutical guidelines and requirements.
  • Must have FDA audit handling experience.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and executing projects within established timelines.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Exposure to Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies is a plus.
