Position Summary
The role of Pharmacy Technician, Sterile Compounding, is integral to Empower Pharmacy's mission of delivering high-quality, innovative medications that help people live healthier, happier lives. This position is vital for maintaining the integrity and safety of our sterile compounding processes, ensuring that every medication produced meets the highest standards of quality and compliance. In this role, you will perform sterile compounding in an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) classified Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) environment, adhering to United States Pharmacopeia (USP) standards and . You will utilize aseptic techniques within a cleanroom setting, ensuring that all sterile preparations are formulated accurately according to master formula worksheets. Your responsibilities include operating manufacturing equipment, performing compounding calculations, and completing thorough documentation to maintain compliance and quality. Additionally, you will aid in maintaining the ISO-classified environment through rigorous cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing components used in the compounding process.
Collaboration and continuous improvement are key aspects of this role. You will be involved in ancillary tasks that support the compounding process, such as bubble point testing, inventory accounting, and participating in LEAN manufacturing initiatives like Root Cause Analysis, 5S, and Gemba. As a qualified expert in sterile operations, you will also have the opportunity to observe and teach new hires, ensuring they are trained to the same ambitious standards. Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs sterile compounding in an ISO classified cGMP environment.
- Performs all work in adherence to USP / regulations, cGMP, and department's standard operating procedures.
- Performs media fill per company policy.
- Utilizes aseptic technique when performing tasks within the clean room.
- Aseptically compounds sterile preparations in a class ISO5 environment.
- Formulates sterile preparations accurately and in compliance with expert formula worksheets.
- Performs compounding calculations and completes thorough documentation. Operates all manufacturing equipment to deliver quality medication.
- Maintains an ISO classified environment through rigorous cleaning and disinfecting of the cleanroom.
- Aids with sterilization of components used in the compounding process.
- Performs ancillary tasks and duties that support the compounding process such as bubble point testing, inventory accounting, autoclaving, and LEAN manufacturing tasks (Root Cause Analysis, 5S, Gemba).
- Becomes trained and qualified in sterile operation via internal training program.
- Prepares work area and supplies thoroughly prior to compounding.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities within the department to ensure execution of the production schedule.
- Ensures cleansing and garbing is performed per company policy.
- Observes and teaches new hires sterile operations.
- Performs transfer of products to visual inspection.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with a team to achieve goals around safety, quality, and delivery.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. Employee must be able to fully gown in aseptic garb and work in a confined, controlled environment for extended periods of time (up to 4-6 hours). Employee will work with hazardous substances (drugs) and strong odors (such as, but not limited to, peracetic acid). Employees may occasionally be required to wear full or half-face respirators (up to 3-4 hours). The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time for consecutive workdays. Employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
