Position Summary
At Empower, the Non-Sterile Prep Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and safety within our facility and is integral to our commitment to excellence. As a Non-Sterile Prep Technician, your meticulous attention to detail and adherence to sanitation protocols directly supports our mission of delivering top-tier medications to our customers.
In this role, you will be responsible for neutralizing hazardous chemicals, operating, and maintaining our washing machines, and determining which items require hand washing. You will ensure that all items are properly cleaned, sanitized, and dried using the appropriate methods. Additionally, you will organize, and store cleaned items in designated areas, maintain a clean and efficient washroom, and adhere to safety protocols to prevent cross-contamination. Your ability to follow predefined instructions, respond to urgent situations, and maintain a clean, fully stocked, and safe work environment will be essential in ensuring that our products meet the rigorous standards our customers expect.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Applies the proper method to neutralize hazardous chemicals before washing or cleaning items in the non-sterile Hazardous Lab.
- Loads, runs, and unloads the Lancer washer properly and safely.
- Evaluates and determines which items, such as glasses, are to be washed by hand.
- Ensures all items are clean and sanitized and applies proper drying methods such as placing items on drying racks or using air pressure.
- Maintains lab supply inventory and submits warehouse requisitions for lab supplies.
- Restocks lab and adjacent areas with personal protective equipment, supplies, devices, and any additional equipment needed to perform required tasks.
- Perform daily trash removal and disposal from lab areas.
- Maintains the washroom area and ensures it is clean, organized, sanitized, and running throughout peak performance.
- Mops and sanitizes the washing room, floors, and countertops at the end of each shift to maintain safety standards and ensure sanitation.
- Sanitizes the work area at least twice per shift to prevent cross-contamination.
- Responds appropriately to urgent situations and follows safety protocol. Following up as needed.
- Works from predefined instructions supplied by the supervisors and report discrepancies to management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to work with hazardous chemicals and will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as full or half face respirators, coveralls, double gloves, lab coat, double shoe covers, and hair bouffant for entire shift. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employees must stand and walk for extended periods of time for consecutive days. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Experience and Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year of previous experience required.
- Prior experience working in a lab environment (i.e., dishwasher, porter, kitchen hand or related sanitization experience) preferred.
