Position Summary

At Empower Pharmacy, quality drives everything we do to ensure patients receive safe, effective, and affordable medications. As a senior quality systems specialist, you will lead critical quality initiatives, enhancing compliance, process integrity, and continuous improvement across our Quality Management System (QMS). This role offers the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally, optimize key quality processes, and directly contribute to expanding access to innovative healthcare solutions.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive QMS to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including authoring and revising Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Manages key quality systems, including Annual Product Review, Corrective and Preventive Actions, non-conformance management, and change control, while collaborating cross-functionally to implement corrective actions, monitor effectiveness, enhance product and process quality, and support documentation, reporting, and audits for regulatory readiness and operational excellence.
  • Manages supplier quality by evaluating and approving suppliers, monitoring supplier performance, and coordinating failure investigations and corrective actions to maintain product and process integrity.
  • Manages the routine review of metric data to ensure quality systems and processes are properly documented, compliant, and inspection-ready for regulatory bodies such as the Food and Drug Administration, Drug Enforcement Administration, and State Board of Pharmacy while facilitating quality management reviews to provide top management with insights into Quality Management System performance, assess key performance indicators, identify improvement opportunities, and guide strategic resource allocation.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to cross-functional teams on Quality System requirements and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and compliance within the organization.

 

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Advanced proficiency in quality system regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and regulatory guidelines, solve problems, and enhance decision-making—adept at integrating artificial intelligence-powered solutions into all workflows.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in quality assurance or quality systems within the pharmaceutical or healthcare manufacturing industry, including at least 1 year of program or process management in equipment qualification, process validation, regulatory compliance, and regulatory audit support.
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, chemistry, biology, or a related scientific discipline; Master's degree is preferred.
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), GMP Certification, Certified Pharmaceutical GMP Professional (CPGP), and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
