Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician I, Shipping, at Empower Pharmacy plays a critical role in ensuring that our medications reach patients safely and efficiently, directly supporting our commitment to people, service, quality, and innovation. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of our shipping processes, ensuring that each package is accurately prepared, securely packed, and delivered on time. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing shipping labels and packaging, double-checking patient information to ensure accuracy, and selecting the best shipping methods based on the nature of the items. You will verify addresses using FedEx Ship Manager, United Parcel Service (UPS) WorldShip, or United States Postal Service (USPS) Endicia software suites, preventing delivery errors and ensuring that packages arrive as scheduled. Your role also involves tracking deliveries, maintaining strict compliance with pharmaceutical shipping regulations, and keeping the shipping area clean and organized to facilitate an efficient workflow.
Collaboration and continuous improvement are at the heart of this role. You will coordinate with the pharmacy and customer service teams to resolve any issues with orders before they are shipped and participate in regular training sessions to stay updated on the latest shipping practices and compliance regulations. Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares shipping labels and packaging to ensure correct delivery to patients, including double-checking patient information for accuracy.
- Packs all items in each order carefully and according to established procedures, ensuring items are secure and protected during transit.
- Verifies shipping addresses using FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip, or USPS Endicia software suites to prevent delivery errors.
- Chooses the best product packing and shipping method based on the nature of the items and standard procedures to minimize risk and cost.
- Tracks deliveries using shipping software and carrier tracking tools to ensure prescription packages arrive as scheduled and alerts customers of any delays.
- Maintains strict compliance with relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and company policies and procedures related to pharmaceutical shipping.
- Keeps the shipping area clean and organized to facilitate efficient workflow and maintain safety standards.
- Completes a minimum of 350 packages per 8-hour shift, maintaining high productivity without compromising accuracy or quality.
- Regularly inspects shipping materials and supplies, restocking and ordering new supplies as needed to maintain inventory levels.
- Coordinates with the pharmacy and customer service teams to address and resolve any issues with orders before they are shipped.
- Participates in regular training sessions to stay updated on the latest shipping practices and compliance regulations.
- Assists in implementing new shipping technologies or processes that increase efficiency and improve customer satisfaction.
- Provides feedback to management on potential improvements in the shipping process or issues that could impact delivery times or quality.
- Performs other duties assigned.
