Empower Semiconductor has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Power Applications Engineer working out of our R&D headquarters in San Jose, CA.
Core Responsibilities / Essential Functions :
The position will be responsible for supporting customers designs from start to finish. The role of a Field Applications engineer is to be a trusted advisor and consultant for system level evaluation, simulation, design in and bring up of Empower solutions into customer systems. It includes developing board level power solutions ranging from demonstration platforms to custom solutions for a wide range of applications. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing high power, point of load (POL) solutions for SoC, processors and xPUs with experience in power integrity analysis.

Skills and Qualifications :
- Minimum 10 years of experience in board level power design
- BSEE required; MSEE in power electronics preferred
- Proven track record of fostering long term relationships with strategic customers based on trust, expertise and professionalism
- Knowledge of DC-DC converter system design and analysis
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment
- Experience in PCB design and optimization (schematic and layout using Cadence Preferred, Allegro OrCAD)
- Experience using simulation and design tools including Spice, Simplis, ADS and other SI / PI tools.
- Experience in PDN and power integrity analysis a plus
- Knowledge of programming languages and tools for automated testing and prototyping such as python
