SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
About the Role
Empower U Community Health Center is seeking a Senior Accountant with FQHC experience to support the finance team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, grant compliance, and efficient accounting operations.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of handling accounting tasks with minimal training. Experience with Sage 300 is highly preferred, as well as a strong background in grant management, Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement, and nonprofit financials.
This position will play a key role in supporting leadership and program managers by providing financial insights and ensuring compliance with HRSA and FQHC regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Assist in the month-end and year-end close process.
- Prepare financial reports for grants, contracts, and internal review.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, HRSA, and FQHC financial regulations
Grant & Revenue Cycle Management:
- Assist in allocating grant funds and preparing reports for compliance.
- Work closely with program managers to track grant expenditures.
- Review Medicaid, Medicare, and 340B financial transactions.
General Accounting & Reconciliations:
- Perform general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Assist in payroll allocations and fringe benefits reconciliation.
- Maintain fixed assets, accruals, and prepaids.
- System & Process Improvements:
- Ensure all financial data is accurately maintained in Sage 300.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance reporting accuracy.
- Support internal audits and external audits as needed.
Other Duties:
- Perform special projects as needed to support the clinic and finance team.
- Provide backup support for other accounting functions when necessary.
- Qualifications & Experience
- 3 years of accounting experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, or FQHC setting
- Strong understanding of grant accounting, restricted funds, and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in Sage 300
- Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, 340B, and HRSA financial regulations
- Strong Excel skills and ability to work with financial models and reports
- Ability to work independently and handle financial tasks with minimal supervision
