Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Organizer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for mobilizing community members, advocating for public initiatives, promote housing programs and fostering relationships with local organizations. This role requires strong the ability to educate and engage diverse populations on critical issues. The Community Organizer will play a vital role in driving projects that promote community well-being and support.
Responsibilities
- Create, plan and execute community events
- Promote City housing programs and disseminate information and track referrals and services.
- Conduct Mortgage and Real Estate outreach prevention
- Promote programs and services of the organization he/she works for.
- Organize and facilitate quarterly Service Area Briefings (SAB) community meetings in the target area, on a topic related to home preservation, tax relief programs, addressing blight, etc...
- Facilitate education workshops associated with NAC programs.
- Actively link organizations and institutions to the community.
- Have knowledge of the neighborhood and the resources within its target area.
- Keep neighborhood resource directory updated and distributed.
- Attend regular neighborhood-wide community meetings
- Organize and recruit block captains and hold quarterly meetings ot discuss neighborhood- wide issues.
- Organize zoning meetings to encourage citizen participation on an as-needed basis.
- Organize yearly festival
- Create and publish bi-monthly newsletter
- Submit reporting as needed
- Manage Community Organizer Intern(s) and other subordinates
- Other duties as assigned
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively educate diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of public services, particularly as they relate to the City of Philadelphia.
- Experience in social media management to enhance community engagement efforts.
- Background in social work or related fields is preferred but not required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships within the community.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $34,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
