Job Summary & Description:
Empowered Services seeks to build a team of responsible, caring, and compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSP's) in Lane County. As an Empowered Services DSP, you will be building life skills and creating opportunities with our unique group of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) customers and families.
We are a One on One Attendant Care agency, providing Activities of Daily Living and Community Supports for our customers in their own or family homes.
Your goal will be to develop meaningful relationships that build confidence & independence and passionately help those with intellectual & developmental disabilities to live a more fulfilled and happy life.
Working one on one with each customer you serve, will allow you to assess their needs, meet desired outcomes, and tend to them accordingly with the goal of fostering a positive, encouraging, and safe environment. Our DSPs are our customers helpers, mentors, and advocates.
Eugene: Provider needed for a teenage customer. Attends school at home via computer. Interest in getting a job. Enjoys playing video games and getting out occasionally. Struggles to remain on task while studying and could use support with executive functioning related to school work (needs cues to do homework) and house work. Hours needed: 3 days/week approximately 4-6 hour shifts from late morning into evening (flexible).
Springfield: Provider needed for adult customer. They have a young child and is looking to gain more independence in the community. Could use support one day/week on Friday/Saturday or Sunday to run errands, go shopping, work on cooking skills, or help with attending appointments. 6-8 hours/week.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must have 1 or more years of experience in frequent communication and interaction with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities as a Caregiver or DSP, or 2 or more years of experience in a customer service role
- Must follow and comply with company policies/procedures and the Oregon OAR’s
- Must pass a background check
- Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
- Must have full coverage car insurance
- Must have your own reliable vehicle
- OIS training Helpful
- CPR, and equivalent certifications helpful, but not necessary
- Must have weekend availablility
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Be a personal companion to your customers, and act as a supportive friend by serving their needs. Show a good work ethic, and exemplify the values of integrity, honesty, and dependability.
- Encourage & foster our customers’ preferred hobbies, interests, & community connections.
- Assist with and work to strengthen our customers’ many daily living needs, including but not limited to: Nutrition, Hygiene, Exercise, Communication Skills, Social Skills, and Household Chores.
- Help our customers in their daily living, behavioral supports, mobility & transportation needs, and work with them to improve their self-reliance and independence.
- Create daily schedules, and cooperatively plan for exciting adventures & events in their communities.
- Help your customer meet their goals & desired outcomes. Track your customer(s) progress and report feedback to their County Coordinator.
- When necessary, report incidents in the HUB and to the County Coordinator immediately (or within 24 hours).
- Encourage individual skill development, and work toward community integration
(drive customers to outings, appointments, meetings, events, etc.). - Develop meaningful relationships and connections with your customer(s). Let's empower them to recognize their voice, worth, and belonging within our community.
- Follow all health and safety protocols, and ensure your customer’s health and safety.
- Log and track your time/mileage in the HUB daily, accurately.
- Complete the required 24 hours of yearly training, as required by the State, and be open to further certifications as needed.
- Be a compassionate, patient, and encouraging support professional at all times. You are a caregiver, cheerleader, and advocate all rolled into one. The work that you will accomplish with your customer(s) will change the lives of many for the better!
