Direct Support Professional in Residential Habilitation assist participants with daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. They provide training in self-direction, money management, socialization, and mobility, and implement habilitation training programs. The role includes behavior management, health and safety maintenance, accurate documentation and record-keeping. Effective communication and teamwork are crucial. Candidates must be at least eighteen, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and hold certifications in First Aid and CPR. They should be adept in following agency policies regarding health and communicable diseases and pass a criminal history check. The role demands flexibility, physical capability, and a compassionate, patient, and positive attitude towards individuals with disabilities.

Empowering Human Services, Llc. in Idaho Falls, ID is looking for direct support professionals to join our 20 person strong team. We are located on 250 South Skyline Drive Suite 3. Our ideal candidate is attentive, motivated, and engaged.

Responsibilities

·       Assist participants with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and medication management.

·       Support in the use of adaptive and assistive devices and appliances.

Skill Development

·       Provide training and assistance in areas like self-direction, money management, socialization, and mobility.

·       Implement and reinforce habilitation training programs to encourage and accelerate development in independent living skills.

Behavior Management

·       Assist in behavior shaping and management, including teaching appropriate expressions of emotions and acquisition of socially appropriate behaviors.

·       Understand and follow behavior intervention plans developed for individual participants.

Health and Safety

·       Ensure the health and safety of participants, including following procedures for communicable diseases and emergency situations.

·       Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy living environment.

Documentation and Record Keeping

·       Accurately document services provided, participant progress, and any significant incidents.

·       Maintain confidentiality and privacy of participant information.

Communication and Teamwork

·       Communicate effectively with participants, team members, and supervisors.

  • ·       Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning and program development.

Qualifications

·       Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.

·       High school graduate or equivalent or demonstrate the ability to provide services according to a plan of service.

Training and Certification

·       Certification in First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) appropriate for the age of participants served.

·       Successful completion of the “Assistance with Medications” course, if applicable.

·       Completion of orientation training and ongoing training as required.

Health

·       Signed statement confirming freedom from communicable diseases.

·       Understanding and adherence to universal precautions and agency policies regarding communicable disease.

Background Check

·       Satisfactory completion of criminal history checks in accordance with IDAPA 16.05.06.

Work Environment

·       The role may require flexibility in hours and may include working evenings, weekends, and holidays.

·       Physical demands include assisting with mobility and other physical needs of participants.

Additional Requirements

·       Ability to work compassionately and respectfully with individuals with disabilities.

·       Good organizational and communication skills.
