Pharmacy technician to work under supervision of pharmacist. Data entry, product dispensing, labeling and compliance packaging, profile labeling, billing and inventory responsibilities required. Requires good customer service skills with patients, caregivers, facilities and providers.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Systems Director of Pharmacy and direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist, and indirect supervision by the Retail Pharmacy Operations Coordinator, the level II Outpatient CPHT performs a variety of duties essential to the purchasing, preparation, distribution and charging of medications. Must be able to perform technician tasks and functions required in the outpatient retail pharmacy related to prescription interpretation, order entry, dispensation, packaging, labeling, billing and inventory. The level II CPHT is expected to train new pharmacy Associates or students. The level II CPHT must demonstrate competency for the key CPHT assignments of prescription interpretation, order entry, third party billing, clerical functions for payment transactions using point of sale software and prescription processing software, preparation of deposit, cash drawer reconciliation, inventory management, 340b software maintenance, patient quality tips and customer service. Must be registered as a pharmacy technician with the KY Board of Pharmacy prior to orientation date. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent. Must maintain required 20 bi-annual hours of CEUs for certification.
Experience: One (1) year hospital or Pharmacy Technician experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired. Basic algebra skills required to calculate dosages.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:
KY Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration required. Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
