What are the responsibilities and job description for the HME Delivery ServiceTech position at - EMRMC?
Under the direction of the MedSource Manager, the incumbent's primary
responsibility is the safe and timely delivery and set-up of medical
equipment and oxygen in the patient's home. The incumbent must be
knowledgeable about the equipment delivered and be able to educate the
patient on its safe and effective use and maintenance. The HME
Delivery/Service Technician must exhibit the F.I.R.S.T. values
(Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Introduces him/herself to customers and patients in a pleasant
and professional manner when arriving to the home.
2. Safely transports home medical equipment and/or oxygen to the
patient's/customer's home:
a. Completes daily vehicle log
b. Safely securing equipment and/or oxygen during transport
c. Keeping vehicle doors locked when oxygen is present
d. Abiding by traffic rules/regulations
e. Respecting patient/customer property
f. Complying with infection control guidelines
2. Safely transfers home medical equipment and/or oxygen into
the patient's home avoiding any risk or damage to their
home.
3. Assembles and/or sets up home medical equipment and ensures that
it is safely and properly functioning.
4. Educates the patient/customer on the proper use of equipment
informing them of any potential risk or hazards of not following
their instructions (e.g. informing oxygen patient the risk of
smoking while using oxygen.)
5. Explains educational material, documentation and information
provided to the patient, collects required signatures, and
addresses any questions or concerns the patient may have
regarding the equipment delivered/set up, it's safe use, and how
to contact MedSource afterhours.
6. Responsible for complete and accurate documentation of delivery
necessary to ensure reimbursement.
7. Responds to patient's request to come to their home to
troubleshoot/repair equipment.
8. Conducts annual preventative maintenance on oxygen concentrators
checking output liter flow and oxygen purity. Replaces interior
air filters.
9. Unloads delivery trucks containing home medical equipment and
supplies.
10. Covers the retail area when needed answering phone and assisting
customers/patients.
11. Authorized to transport and deliver nebulizer medications as an
agent for EMRMC Outpatient Pharmacy per protocol.
12. Maintains courteous, helpful attitude to ensure quality service
and customer satisfaction.
13. Accepts assignments and responsibilities as directed by manager.
14. Alternates call schedule with other Associates.
15. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and
growth.
16. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of
the Organization.
17. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by
demonstrating dependability in job performance.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Average work station area with normal levels of noise. Requires
movement of heavy home medical equipment. Requires safe operation of
delivery vehicles. Must be able to work with constant interruptions of
phone and walk-in customers and patients. The task of this job
occasionally involves the exposure to body fluids, unpleasant smells,
sights and unsanitary environments due to delivering equipment and
supplies to patients' homes. Must be able to move or position 50 lbs.
independently. High stress level due to meeting delivery deadlines or
covering for the front area which has a high volume of calls and
patient/customer walk-ins. Requires on call rotation for nights and
weekends. Some overtime due to being on call.

referring agencies on a routine basis.

Maintains knowledge of all appropriate home medical equipment and
supplies purchased in the store or delivered to our customers
residence. Maintains knowledge of third party payors policies and
procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:
Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Computer skills required. Delivery experience helpful.
