What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Transporter position at - EMRMC?
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Recovery Services Transporter escorts or transports patients within the hospital. Assists patients in walking or transports non-ambulatory patients using wheelchair, stretcher or bed. Transports patients alone or with assistance in bed or wheelchair to designated area within facility. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Works in a well lighted, ventilated and air conditioned area. Often exposed to unpleasant odors, sights, and sounds. Long periods in a stationary position and moving around the unit are required. Risks exposure to disease, infection and physical strain. Risks exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue. Must be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
Patients, family members and significant others, physicians and Associates, other health care providers, community resource personnel, administrative staff, and hospital support services. Must be able to communicate effectively. Should be pleasant, conscientious, objective, tactful, diplomatic, and responsible.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Stretchers and wheelchairs. Must have good body mechanics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: One to three (1-3) years work experience required. Hospital experience preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:
BLS required within three (3) months of hire.
