What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMS Billing Specialist position at EMS Revenue Systems, Inc?
Experience not required. Knowledge of medical terminology/ coding preferred. This is an ideal position for an EMT, Patient Care Tech, STNA or Medical Assistant. Must be computer proficient, detail oriented and willing to learn!
Our billers will:
Obtain prior authorizations
Review claims for errors and completeness
Communicate missing info with crews
Collect and verify insurance coverage
Properly code runs and provide supporting documentation
Submit claims to insurance for payment
Post payments accurately
Follow up on denied claims
Speak with patients and facilities regarding bills
Maintain HIPAA privacy
Work well independently or as part of a small team
Summary
As an EMS Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for managing medical billing processes and ensuring accurate collections for emergency medical services. Reporting to the Billing Manager, your core skills in medical terminology, EHR systems, and medical coding will be essential in processing claims and maintaining medical records. While no prior experience is required, experience in CPT and ICD-10 coding will enhance your ability to navigate complex billing scenarios.
